Last week was a fairly typical week of pregnancy workouts for me lately, so I thought I’d share what I’ve been doing. I did have one new addition, the yoga DVD, that I think will become a regular part of my routine.
Monday
- 1 mile walk at lunch (20 minutes)
Tuesday
- 1 mile walk at lunch (20 minutes)
Wednesday
- Walk Away the Pounds 2 mile DVD (30 minutes)
- Crunch Yoga Mama – Prenatal Yoga DVD (40 minutes)
Thursday
- 1 mile walk at lunch (20 minutes)
Friday
- 1 mile walk at lunch (20 minutes)
Saturday
- 8 miles stationary bike (32 minutes)
- Prenatal yoga DVD (40 minutes)
Sunday
- 2 mile walk w/J (40 minutes)
- Prenatal yoga DVD (40 minutes)
What was successful this week:
- I walked every day at lunch and got in three other workouts.
- I am enjoying my new yoga DVD and am excited to make this a part of my regular routine.
What can be improved:
- Overall, I do feel like I could be doing more.
- I would like to increase my lunchtime walks to 1.5-2 miles. My coworker and I had been doing longer walks but she’s been swamped and hasn’t had the time lately so we cut back.
- One more gym visit for the week would have been great.
Goals for this week:
- Weather permitting, keep up daily walks at lunch (a snow storm later this week may make this difficult).
- Increase the length of one lunchtime walk.
- Go to the gym at least twice: one weeknight, one weekend. Third workout can be either gym or a walk with J.
- Yoga DVD 2-3 times.
Goals for the future:
- Longer rides on the stationary bike once per week.
I always laugh when someone describes a mile walk as a workout, I walk to the train station everyday its not my workout it’s my commute running or hitting gym is my workout Americans crack me up!
I’m pregnant, asshole. And recovering from injury. My workout standards have adjusted accordingly. Has nothing to do with me being American.
Chill out I was only kidding Americans take life way to serious! I just thought cause your name has marathoner you’d be blogging about running big miles that’s all
Read my “About the Lazy Marathoner” section and that should explain things.
Stubborn injuries (on and off since 2010) + pregnancy make marathons a bit tough. And I don’t think me being American has anything to do with my reaction; it can be hard to interpret someone’s intent through a written comment. Don’t know what you (seem to) have against Americans! Take care.
Great job staying active during pregnancy! I don’t miss that at all
Thank you, Kara! I’m trying to focus on what I can do, even if it’s not much, rather than being pissed that I can’t run (though I am still pissed that I can’t run). Better than nothing, right?
