Another snow day

It’s day 4 of Snowmageddon 2013, and I’m still home. Yesterday was beautiful so I hung out outside with my neighbors, and last night I went over my friend/next-door neighbor’s for a movie, hot cocoa and dinner. I had a great time and it was so nice to be out of my house and around other people. But today it’s rainy and gross so there’s no hanging around outside.

Our plow guys were MIA until this morning, not responding to our property manager’s repeated phone calls. We were concerned we’d have to seek out a new company, which would be nearly impossible (not to mention very costly) at this point in time.

We were in deep sh*t. There was no getting out; parking lot still looked like this:

And our road wasn’t plowed, or the road adjacent. We were good and stuck and I was grateful work was closed again today, because I sure as hell wasn’t getting there. Oh and there’s no way J could have gotten in, so he’d have to park down the street in the college visitor lot.

Around 10 am I heard a wonderful sound: a payloader! In my parking lot!

Can you see it behind the massive pile of snow? The payloader was joined by a plow and they got to work. Once there was enough space to get out we moved our cars to the campus lot so they’d have more room.

A few hours later they were as done as they could be. The lot is still a hot mess and very dangerous to drive through. There is zero visibility around corners and it’s pretty scary. There are massive piles of snow throughout that will need to be trucked away, and several spots are still blocked with snow.

Hopefully they will be back soon to haul all the snow away. I’d be pissed if I couldn’t get to my spot. I’m grateful both our spots are available and J can get to his, if he’s able to get home. I miss him!

  1. Hope you are doing OK. Stay in your house today, I hear the roads are still terrible!

They’re awful! The few I saw while moving my car to campus parking lot, anyway. Thinking maybe I’ll work from home tomorrow, or at least the morning.
