Florida vacation, part 2: Kennedy Space Center and belly at the beach!

Welcome to part 2 of our babymoon to Florida! In case you missed it, read part 1 here.

Monday was another sunny but chilly (and so windy!) day. We decided to go to the Kennedy Space Center, which J had been wanting to visit for ages. On the drive there we saw our first gator! We’ve been going to Cocoa Beach since 2007 and each trip it is our goal to see a gator in the wild. We’d never had any luck before but we did this time, on the side of the road leading to the space center. Had there been room to pull over we would have taken a photo, but you’ll just have to believe us.

The space center was pretty cool, but the $50 per person entry fee is pretty steep if you’re not going to take advantage of the Imax presentations or guided bus tour (which both make me nauseous). I wish there was a more basic entry fee for those who don’t wish to include those options. Kennedy Space Center, take note!

I’m definitely not as excited by space travel as J is, but even I thought the space center was pretty cool.

While there we also saw our second gator, in the pond by the astronaut memorial. We got a photo this time.

We had a lot of fun and bought a book for the nephews (though I think J wanted an excuse to buy it for himself – it’s about how to make rockets from soda bottles) and an adorable pair of socks for Penny Bazinga.

I just couldn’t resist.

After the space center we grabbed lunch at Green Room Cafe. This time I got the beach pride smoothie and vejjo sandwich.

Both were delicious. We then headed to the beach. You know it’s chilly when J wears boots to the beach!

Of course I had to take belly shots. We need to be able to show PB evidence of her first trip to the beach!

Chilly but beautiful.

We went out with K and S for dinner. Her parents had the kids so it was a rare date night for them. We took our dessert to go and ate it back in our suite, where we stayed up way too late considering K had to work in the morning. So hard to say good-bye when you are having so much fun!

One more vacation post to come then it’s back to normal…

I am in serious need of beach time. Glad you got to enjoy some sand between your toes.
