Each day with a newborn is different and somewhat unpredictable. Some days are good, some are not so good, others are in between. H and I have fallen into to a loose schedule that works for us… for now! This is what our days look like at the moment.
5:00-6:00 am – H generally wakes for a feeding/diaper change somewhere during this time, then we go back to bed, H in her co-sleeper.
6:45-7:30 am – Somewhere around here H gets antsy so I nurse her again then she comes into bed with me for cuddle time. She sleeps and I lightly fall back to sleep with her on my chest.
8:30 am – Up for the day! I brush my teeth, wash my face, get dressed an make the bed.
9:00 am – Try to eat breakfast then feed H.
10:00 am – Morning activity. Usually it’s our daily walk, at least a 2 mile loop but sometimes more. We’ve met up with my friend and her 8-week-old daughter a couple times lately. On Tuesdays we go to breastfeeding support group and this Thursday we’re going to a baby wearers group. Sometimes our outing is a trip to Starbucks.
12:30 pm – H nurses and we cuddle, then I try to get her down for a nap by 1 pm. This is a new and welcome addition to our schedule! I use nap time to clean and stuff my face.
2:00 pm – H wakes up and nurses. We spend the afternoon playing and sometimes take a trip to Starbucks or to run errands.
4:30 pm – Cranky time starts and I start really looking forward to J getting home.
5:00 pm – J gets home and jumps in the shower (landscapers are dirty, yo), then takes over baby duty. Except feeding. He hasn’t yet learned to lactate. I catch up on chores and try to spend some time with J.
8:30 pm – H nurses then is usually in bed by 9:00 pm.
10:00 pm – J and I head to bed. I look forward to being able to keep my eyes open later than this!
I’m trying to figure out when to fit in a run. I’m thinking when J gets home from work. I don’t yet have a Bob and I don’t think you can use them til baby is 6 months old anyway.
Of course my schedule will change greatly when I head back to work in 5 weeks! Still figuring that out. Don’t really want to think about it honestly.
Mommies: what’s your day like? How did your schedule change when you returned to work?
