OK, so I ran just over 2 miles.
OK, so I ran/walked just over 2 miles, so I probably ran less than a mile.
Whatever. My point is, I finally squeezed in my first post-baby, post-return-to-work workout. And it was great. Hectic, but worth it.
I got home after work/day care pick up around 4:15. H and I hung out outside until J got home (she loves to be outside, and finally tolerates wearing her sun hats, yay!), then I fed her and rushed to get everything ready for bed/the next morning/my post-run shower. (Because H still sleeps in our room I shower in the guest bathroom instead of the master bath so I don’t disturb her.)
J took H out for a walk at the same time I left, so I did my warm-up walk with them, then completed my run/walk. Since I hadn’t run in a few weeks I skipped back to a workout from week 2 of the Couch-to-5K, instead of jumping right back into week 4, where I left off. See, really trying to be smart and stay injury-free.
The weather was amazing (I <3 fall!) and I felt really great. I actually didn't feel like I'd taken a 3 1/2-week break at all. My overall run pace was 9:50, which is fast for me at this point in time so I am happy.
One thing that still annoys me when running is people who won't make room for others on the sidewalk. Some a-holes just won't move over. There were two groups of women walking two across who refused to move. Well guess what? I'm not moving, either. I charged those bitches and I won those games of chicken because both times they moved at the last second. Damn right.
In accidentally perfect timing, I finished my last running segment exactly when I caught up to J and H, so I got to walk my cool down with them.
H should have been ready for bed when we got home (and had, in fact, fallen asleep in the stroller), but instead she was awake and cranky, so after a quick shower I fed her, rocked her (best part of the day = holding my sleeping baby), and put her to bed.
I was feeling energetic so I made some cookies for J. He loves granola bars but was looking for something a bit healthier. I found these trail cookies, which seemed like granola bars in cookie form, and I was right. They’re pretty amazing. They are made with healthy ingredients (well, except the brown sugar and chocolate), with none of that high fructose corn syrup crap. And they’re really easy and quick to make. I always consider it an accomplishment when my incredibly picky eater hubby likes something new. He gobbled these right up.
I finally are my dinner around 8:45 pm. I had gnocchi with vodka sauce. Then I had dessert, more gnocchi with vodka sauce. Yum.
I have cooked a few yummy things lately so maybe I will do a post soon with links to those recipes. I’m all about quick, easy meals right now (preferably healthy but they have to taste good!).
Baked anything good lately?
P.S. This is my very favorite month of the year. Happy October!
